When people hear network operations, they tend to think it is just sitting coolly in front of a computer, but actually it is quite a muddy job.

At the customer’s place there is equipment like home gateways, ONUs, routers, modems, media converters and VoIP gateways, and when these break, or the cable connecting them is cut, that is a fault too.

For a physical fault like that, we ask a person called a field worker to go to the site, and we ask them to swap the equipment or repair the cable.

Until I got to know this job, I also thought it was a job where you just sit in front of a computer and operate it.
